Volunteer Opportunities  

Prevent Child Abuse New York has many volunteer opportunities. Positions are tailored to individual talents and schedules. Some volunteers even work from home. Call 1-800-CHILDREN or 518-445-1273 or download a volunteer application.

Clerical/Admin Support: Helps with general clerical work, including answering the phone, data entry, copying and collating, preparing supplies for public exhibits.

Parent Helpline: The Parent Helpline provides information and referrals to parents, professionals and others. Volunteers work varying shifts 9 a.m.-5 p.m. weekday in our Albany office or after-hours from their home. Training and ongoing supervisory support for handling calls and searching the database is provided and mandated. Parent Helpline volunteers are carefully screened.

Legislative advocacy: Advocacy support volunteers track state and federal legislation and/or research specific issues and draft summary reports. Volunteers also assist with planning, logistics, scheduling and arrangements for our annual legislative conference.

New York State Child Abuse Prevention Conference. Volunteers are needed to help finalize registration information for our annual April conference, compile materials for participants and staff conference functions.

Public awareness: Volunteers take PCANY's literature to public sites and community events.

Fundraising: Volunteers plan and execute events, solicit donors and research grant opportunities.

Community Events: Volunteers staff events including our Walk for Children, and various exhibitions and presentations across the state.
