Organize a Team

Teams of walkers from all over the Capital Region will take a step toward preventing child abuse in the 2009 Walk for Children. Your workplace, club or organization is a great place to recruit a team. For more great ideas about organizing a team, click here to download the Team Leader's Handbook.

The benefits of walking for children with a team include:

  • Publicly demonstrating your organization's concern for the health and safety of the Capital Region’s children.
  • Increasing your organization's visibility in the community.
  • Building teamwork and camaraderie among employees or members.
  • Encouraging good relationships between employees and their families as they walk together.
  • Building company morale by caring enough to help prevent child abuse!

If your company has a matching funds policy, please inform your team members of this wonderful incentive.

Other places where you may find team members include: your family, your friends, your neighbors, or your social or faith-based clubs.

Designate a team leader, set a fundraising goal, and we’ll provide you with the support you need to get things going. It’s easy to recruit walkers through memos, newsletters, and e-mail, as well as by hanging posters in break rooms and distributing walk brochures with company paychecks. You can even organize a number of teams to compete for a prize.

Your team members should walk together, to proclaim your commitment to children and families.
