$2 million for the New York State Children and Family Trust Fund to maintain the Trust Fund's mission of providing funding support for community-based services to prevent all forms of family violence: child abuse, domestic violence, and elder abuse. ACHIEVED. We also supported a legislative amendment to change the Trust Fund's funding formula, and thereby provide for more flexibility to meet current needs. No legislative action this year. $3.5 million for Child Advocacy Centers and multi-disciplinary teams to support 32 Child Advocacy Centers, which provide for better therapeutic and prosecutorial outcomes when children and victimized. Child fatality review team legislation amendment to clarify that child fatality review teams may review any unexplained or accidental child fatality, or near-fatality, to develop a full understanding of why children are dying and how to prevent child deaths. School-based shaken baby syndrome prevention education for pre-parents and teens parents. Legislation SIGNED INTO LAW, effective September 2007, provides that the parental skills curriculum in school districts may include instruction on the consequences and prevention of shaken baby syndrome.

Tax check-off contribution to Prevent Child Abuse New York.
